December ’17: Holidays are happening

I do hope you are all in peak health and are enjoying the long summer days.  December is usually a fast-moving month which seems short as there are so many public holidays.  Let’s make these long weekends a blessing by being geared to do good, feel good and act good.

November saw the first of our special University Studentscourse.  Our university girls attended three times a week and are due to complete their course next Friday, 22 December.  Teaching students who are, themselves, geared at learning is an awesome experience for me.  The fast pace and enthusiasm shown has taught me to never underestimate one’s potential of attaining knowledge.  The brain is a fantastic sponge that allows us to absorb whatever we put our minds to.  Completion of a task requires, as one of my brilliant students put it, “the application of the mind.”

We received a phenomenal response for our girl’s and little ladies course.  We also endeavoured to tailor-make structured courses to fit individual needs.  Course syllabi have been updated to keep up with technology and modern times.  We have introduced a new Sewing Skills Program which includes a little sewing machine as well as a complete sewing kit.  We have just completed a duo and we, together with the students and parents, are elated with the outcome.  At such a tender age the love for Sewing using a machine has been discovered.  The girls loved every moment of it, and so did we!

The Dubai Souk personnel were very heartwarming as they invited us once again to do a Fashion Show at the Souk.  This outlet for our students’ designs carries weight in the outside world as people from far and wide attend.  Please diarise 30 December 2017  at 19:00for 19:30 and be there to support our students.

I humbly request all of you to keep your children and families occupied in the best ways this holiday.  Let the cheer of the season and holidays into your home by creating a welcoming feeling.  Adults and children need to be kept occupied.  Keep your family together by arranging
picnics and outings.  Keeping children occupied is as easy as giving them a needle and some thread!  Let them create something using your fabric scraps.  Help them make something!  A board game, books or gardening can do wonders for the idle minds.  Take time to discover your child’s potential this holiday and open new doors of adventure.  Museums, beaches and parks are sure thrillers at no cost.

Go on. Get it done. Just Do it.
