My dear students, friends, family and acquaintances…
I sincerely hope you are all well and are enjoying the cool Winter weather. We have been blessed with some much-needed rain, but it was also sad to see the havoc it caused. This should be a lesson to us that too much of one thing is not always good. May the rains that follow be beneficial.
Once again we meet to catch up on the happenings on the home front. As the new month dawned upon us, voting vibes filled the air leaving some feeling positive and others apprehensive. Whatever the case may be, I do hope that we become better and hopeful individuals after all the hype and that most, if not all, of you took advantage of your fundamental right and made your mark.
The country today is booming with people from all nationalities trading in whatever they know best to earn money. Likewise, making clothing has become a lucrative industry to be in. To learn sewing skills is one thing, but to implement it you need a positive mental attitude.
Positivity comes with knowing, and knowing comes from learning. So don’t stop learning, as this will give you the keys to the journey towards success. No question is too foolish to ask and no mistake is a ‘train smash’. Silent Sewing Academy prides itself in uplifting its students by offering short courses, one-hour individual workshops and doing whatever it takes to empower the women we come in contact with. Our policy of giving back missed lessons(Ts&Cs apply) still stands because we know that life happens!
We’ve just observed National Woman’s Day (in South Africa) – a day which gives you and me the strength and confidence to get up and do what needs to be done to make our lives better. Whether it means overcoming obstacles or simply working out a new family routine, the struggle is real. As women, we should stand together, empower each other, and build on each other’s strengths.
Hope is a word much forgotten… revive it! If you’ve lost it, then make an effort to find it. Effort is needed because without it, nothing of substance is achieved.
“Make it happen,” is what I always say… and faces light up, positivity takes over and my students put their best foot forward to MAKE IT HAPPEN. Persevere and you WILL get there. Designers are not born, they are created through learning and experience. Keep in touch with us as you grow into a budding dressmaker and designer because we like to keep our fingers in the pie!
In parting, please remember…
“You are braver than you believe,
stronger than you seem,
smarter than you think and
twice as beautiful as you’d ever imagined!”
Yours truly,
Mrs. A
