Hello my dear readers
I do hope every single one of you is in good health and in a positive frame of mind.
November is examination month and those parents whose children are in Matric this year will be stressing just as much (or maybe more!) than their children. That’s part of the cycle of life. If it’s not this stress, it’s another.
The overwhelming feeling we get when things aren’t working out… That feeling of nostalgia about better times… These are the sore points we need to work on. You will always be in a position where you need to make decisions. Decide what’s best for that moment. Don’t dwell on what is done, because you can’t do anything about it. Dont worry about the future, because everything won’t go exactly as it should. Rather, keep track of today, the present. That’s your gift. Your present. Stay positive and let go of the past. Rejoice in today. Achieve as much as possible. Make it Happen for Waheeda!
November is usually a quiet month at the Academy, but this year we are in a buzz! Due to demand, we opened a special morning slot for university students to be able to complete Module 1 before the big holidays come around. Then, due to additional demand, we had to open a special afternoon slot as well. These are our final intakes for 2017. The courses will run from 17 November to 22 December. The response was phenomenal and the morning class is full. There are a few places in the afternoon slot, so apply now if you’d like to join in!
There is always something exciting happening at the Academy of Positivity. We have an exciting challenge that we have offered to few of our Graduates. With the Grace of God, they have accepted the challenge and are prepared to Make It Happen. They were asked to design and sew miniature outfits which will be showcased in frames on the walls at the Academy. This is a first for us. The showpieces will hold the name of the Graduate who created it. In this way, when our Graduates leave us, they will leave behind a little of themselves, too, an they will always be close to our heart. We’ll post the pictures here, when the challenge is completed.
As you can see, there is enough excitement here to last us till the holidays!
Here are a few more announcements we’d like to share:
We have revamped our Foundation Level Syllabus due to the technological age. Holiday programs will be advertised for the school-going children and also for adults that need to know how to tack a button or hem. Please enquire about the new program.
Even though we aren’t running any more longer courses this year, there is still room to hold shorter courses and workshops such as the 4-lesson Sewing Skills course (to learn to use your machine for crafts and small projects) and the 3-hour Shopper Bag workshop.
Our annual show in October had everybody in a frenzy and the exposure allowed the Academy to almost reach celebrity-status 😉 I have found that I need not introduce myself anymore as the general public know me even though I don’t know them. We are at the Dubai Souk this year! As always, we invite our students who would like to use the platform to launch their labels at a fashion show at the Dubai Souk. Let us grab hold of what is left of the year and resolve to complete all undone or half done projects. Let us get our lives back in perspective and move forward towards an exciting break in December.
