My dear lovely ladies
I do hope you are all on peak, eating healthily, being positive and making it happen! Here at the school we are having a beautiful month with ideas and inspiration flowing to make the most awesome Abayas and Eid outfits. We have had a very positive response for Module 4 and it has been a tremendous success. Thanks to those who suggested it….. I am truly grateful.
Learning is a powerful tool, geared with knowledge of exploring unknown territories. Machine skills is as versatile as your food processor. Once you know the principles, the opportunities are endless. Our renowned Learn to Sew in 16 Lessons course promises just that. The knowledge, once found, can either be shelved like a book or opened to endless possibilities. The choice is yours. I highly recommend you USE your skills – be it just for fun, for necessity or for an income. If you want to follow your dreams, we have many courses to choose from to “make it happen” for yourself.
Build your legacy
“Your legacy is every life you’ve touched.”
Maya Angelo told Oprah Winfrey
Build YOUR legacy!
This brought tears to my eyes and a lump in my throat. How many people’s lives have I touched? How many families, customers and students I have been blessed to meet! Did I make a positive impact on all of them? Was I able to transfer my knowledge, help them with their problems or just be there as inspiration? I hope I was.
Today I need to thank you all, my family and especially my daughters who have helped me along my journey of living my dreams, to build MY legacy and touch the lives of people who enter my life every day. I thank you to my students for choosing me!
We are 10 years old this year!
With the grace of God, my journey began 40 years ago. I had acquired a Diploma in Hairdressing & Beauty Therapy at the M.L. Sultan Technical College. My mother was not impressed, even though I was one of only three students who completed successfully and made it to the stage. She insisted I carry on studying and so, sent me to a private tutor to acquire finer skills and learn to sew modest wear. I do wish you all can meet my teacher at the show this year, as she is my only link left of my sewing roots.
Show preparations
Our show preparations are well under way and our students are as excited as we are in preparing for our 10th Annual Designer Showcase and Graduation. We are hopefully preparing for a record 10 graduates this year. In keeping with our bigger and better theme for our 10th birthday, we have booked Ismail Bemath Caterers and they have promised to make it an event that tops all our previous shows. Tickets cost R175 and it covers a full meal and gift together with a Show of all Shows where well over 50 garments will be showcased from our students on ALL levels. VIP tables are also available. You may book a table for 10 and your seating will be reserved. You may pay in cash or by EFT. Please contact us for our designated show banking details.
Eid-ul-fitr is nearly here. It will mark the end of the month-long fast for Muslims. I hope that we could all become better people after the intensive exercise of patience and discipline which we’ve all practised this month. Best wishes also to Thola, our beautiful helper, who kept the fast with us this year. I wish all my Muslim students, and Thola, a happy and joyous Eid, and I wish ALL of you a great day, week, month and year ahead!
‘Tis the time for giving, as the saying goes. So give of yourselves with your time and your wealth, for surely, the rewards are tenfold.
Till next time.
