Hello my dear ladies
The Easter Long weekend is over and the first quarter of the year has passed. I do hope you all had a blessed few days off work to catch up.
Holidays are viewed in different ways depending on which stage of our lives we are in. A single mother of five active children once told me that she was also on holiday when her children were on holiday. I was surprised. She explained that she used to prepare for the holidays as if she were going to a self-catering apartment. When the school holidays started she did minimal housework and often prepared a picnic, depending on where they decided to go for the day. She would then spend the entire day out with her children and also invited other families too. She stressed less and still looks beautiful, fit and youthful today although she is now 65 years old!
We also need to strategise in this way! What ever works best for your family. Make the most of the few precious years you have with your children. Once they have grown, it definitely won’t be the same. Sign them up for some classes. Take them to the library, museum, the zoo, Botanical Gardens, shopping… Let them help you with your chores. Show the kids that time can be utilised productively. Arts and crafts projects are a number one winner. Whatever you do let it be fun. Our children will be grown soon and before we realise it, they will be leading their own lives.
Exciting things are always happening at our Academy. We upgraded the Module 2 syllabus this year, which is a leap towards success. We are now focusing more on pattern making than before in order to get our budding designers empowered.
Our little ladies holiday course is scheduled for the Winter holidays. Due to our renovations, we had to put in on hold. All other classes will resume as scheduled once the new week starts.
The new Saturday courses start in June, after Eid-ul-Fitr. New weekday courses start every month.
Module 2 course: Wednesday, 11 April 2018, 8:30-11:30
Module 1 course: Thursday, 3 May 2018, 11:30-14:30
I do hope you all enjoyed my short story in our March edition. Many people have asked, so I have to respond: it really was me at the airport! The calls and messages are testimony that my story was liked by many.
We did tell you that we have a few surprises in store and here’s the first one. We are introducing an Arts & Crafts class for ladies and children. Mums and daughters, here is a chance to bond while decorating a decorative T-shirt using a variety of techniques. This Saturday morning course will be an all-inclusive three-lesson course.
I teach Dressmaking and Designing.
To my students, my sparkling gems.
I teach them basic clothes making:
Necklines, sleeves and hems.It takes me awhile to get used to you all,
I sometimes forget your name!
But when it comes to making you understand,
For that I gained the fame!I don’t know what makes you open up to me.
My life is an open book for everyone to see.
The bond forms and I gain your trust;
Love flows between us.I look forward to each time I see you.
I am happy to be with you, too.
Positive vibes and happy smiles
Makes all of this worth my while.Every group has a different impact.
Every student a different view.
But I conquer the differences
And share their views, news and reviews. My students I are always sad
When a module comes to an end.
But I brace myself and smile and say
”It’s not the end, it’s just a bend.’
