| Hello my Dear Readers
July is half past already and the holidays are nearly over. Beautiful weather with crispy mornings and warm afternoons leave us all in good moods. Let’s hope the cold front that has been predicted moves on quickly. Thank you to all those that have sent such positive feedback. We are truly blessed to be associated with the “Sewing Best”.
The ten year mark has certainly made an impression cast in iron as we started our second group of Module 3 students. Our first group did the final lesson 16 to complete the course and start with preparations for the SHOW. Enthusiastic and vibrant with ideas flowing, we concluded Module 3 in a group amidst coffee and cookies, designs and drafts. We take this opportunity to wish our new Module 3s that started on Wednesday, 12 July, everything of the best. Excitement is overflowing and hopes are held high as we step into a zone of escalation in the history of Silent Sewing Academy. To mark our TEN YEARS we will have TEN Module 3 graduates – by far, the highest number of annual Module 3 graduate! – hopefully, with the Blessings of the Almighty. The third school term is nearly upon us and the time for mid-year assessments – not just academic, but personally as well. Have we been good individuals and kept up to our resolutions? Have we made a difference? Are we happy with what we have achieved thus far? If you content with your progress then YOU DID IT! You Made It Happen! If not, it’s never too late to start. You can still make it happen. “Make it Happen’“Make It Happen” has become a catch-phrase as our students repeatedly express it to motivate themselves.
Don’t worry about the past; it’s long gone.
Don’t worry about the future; we have no control of it. Let’s celebrate the Present. Today. Today is the Present. It’s Our Gift, Our Present. We CAN Make it Happen. Our introduction into the Module 4, Sew Your Design, was a resounding success, with the Help of the Almighty. We will start another of these short courses on the 14 August. Please let me know if you’d like to join in. This new course, which has become a sort of Designer Ideas Outlet, has taken us by surprise. Sewing veterans have made a comeback. It’s as though we have stumbled upon a niche in the a market. We are humbly honoured to be chosen as a sewing skills institute. We have also become first choice in the Beginners Sewing courses with our Learn to Sew in 16 Lessons course. In keeping with the times of sensible eating and exersize we would love to introduce a male and female Active Wear course. We aim to do sportswear for both men and women. Sports Abayas and modest tracksuit style Abayas. The market is flourishing and fanatics are looking for new options in their dressing. Students who have done professional development lessons on it, are retailing their garments successfully. While we wish to pilot this course, we will add it as an option in Module 4 for the time being. If it becomes popular we can make it a Module 5 syllabus. Please share your thoughts with us. All said and done, we would like to say: Just Keep Sewing. Don’t Stop. Be Sew-Active. Get up and go for it. There are enough opportunities. Look for the options. Take the first step. Please remember those less fortunate than us. A picnic for the orphans this weekend was a real eye opener. Eager faces smiled at us as we welcomed them in Mitchell Park. My grandson entertained them with magic tricks while they snacked on goodies. The organizations that participated had lunch delivered and each child received a fluffy blanket and a goody bag with stationery and other things. It was a very self satisfying morning, humbling, and well spent to help uplift the underprivileged. Let’s make it a part of our lives. Let’s give back to those in need. It will definitely make you feel good, as it did me. Be good
