A smiley and cheerful Hello to all my students, friends, family and acquaintances.
It’s midyear already when exams and Winter holidays combine with the Muslim’s fasting month of Ramadaan. Being in physical, mental spiritual and an emotionally stable frame of mind plays an important part in all this hubbub. To keep on top of things, organisation and timeously planned days are fulfilling to mind, body and soul.
Children need skills development from an early age and we stress the point that learning to use a needle an thread is not only designated for sewing lessons and the class room; its benefits are innumerable. It also plays an important part in empowering our little princess by encouraging entrepreneurship. The youth of today should utilise this ageless skill and reap the rewards.
The most exciting event of our May calendar was the advent of the Masterclass. Wow. The response was phenomenal! We realised that so many budding seamstresses need an easy way to supplement their income. The Shopper Bag is the start and launch of our new series of ‘simple things to make and empower’ strategy.
Another first is the freebie extra lesson for the level two Intermediate level class. We have officially introduced this free lesson to our Intermediate Level students from next term. We call it ‘The Recap Lesson’ and the students benefit by asking questions and learning anything they missed before they begin the Intermediate Level.
Some news to look forward to: We will be launching our online store in a few weeks. We’ll keep you posted on the progress of this milestone. From our store, you will be able to purchase your Silent Sewing Academy course and some sewing tools via credit or debit card directly from the comfort of your own home.
A huge incentive to join the Academy is that as soon as a student is ready and confident, she can showcase her garments to start selling publicly. We offer her the platform with all the perks to do a show on her name under our banner. The last show was an astounding success and we encourage students to get a personalised label with their own .name brand.
The Muslim’s Eid festival which is approaching has made designers, tailors and dressmakers extremely busy. Times like these make sewing skills an extremely profitable business. The professional development lesson that’s taught 1-on-1 was designed for this specific reason. In this lesson you are empowered by learning exactly what you need to know instead of shrugging off an idea or design that you feel you cannot make. You can come to learn what you need to know, make the draft and cut out the garment under professional tutelage.
Another lesson you may join us for is Sew your Choice. Here you bring in your pattern and make the garment under personal tutelage.
We wish our Muslim friends everything of the best for Ramadaan and a blessed Eid.
