Hello my dearest readers,
I do hope you are all in good health in this beautiful month of October. The delay in our monthly newsletter was absolutely INTENTIONAL. We were organizing our annual Students’ Exhibition. WOW! What a phenomenal show it turned out to be!
Sunkist Restaurant, in Morningside, proved to be the perfect choice of venue. The relaxed atmosphere and beautiful environment melted to give a country-style homely feel which radiated Joy as our students and guests came in looking stunning, all dressed up. The spring theme and gorgeous October weather added to the perfect day, making us all feel happy and excited to be out early on a Saturday morning.
Pauline Sangham, Lotus FM personality and a beautiful woman with a world of experience was our MC for the morning. This, in itself, marked a first in our new-look annual show. Pauline is currently a student of the Academy, busy with Beginner Level.
Pauline spoke about fashion, fashion icons and about how sewing can teach you not only to expand your wardrobe but to actually become aware of fashion and trends. She discussed how blending and mixing fabrics and designs allows you to recreate your true personality in the clothes you make for yourself, because only you know your true self! Outstanding in the way she captured the audience and made them feel special, Pauline brought smiles and inspired uplifted spirits as she spoke about the outfits being exhibited.
Razia Mall, an Intermediate Level student, gave a short talk on her personal experience at Silent Sewing Academy. A home executive with meticulous habits and an open-hearted, smart lady, Razia stole the hearts of all the ladies she met. Her transformation from a serious individual with preserved habits into a confident budding designer, inspired her to speak of her own transformation. Razia has opened up a world of creativity for herself with such zeal and grandeur making those around her feel that they should also be putting in extra effort. She presented us with a huge bouquet of flowers and an awesome handbag-shaped vase filled with goodies. Her generosity overwhelmed us. Razia wore her own self-sewn skirt made of a silver-grey brocade fabric with self embossed print. The skirt was pleated at the waist to create fullness. Themed with a matching top, Razia looked elegant and graceful as she spoke, bringing together a mixed array of people onto a platform of self motivation.
Our students far exceeded our expectations as they walked down the passage looking cool and confident in their own creations, worn with accessories that took our breath away. The amazed audience was at a loss for words and sat entranced as, one by one, our learner students walked with true style bringing out design after design to an applauding room of onlookers.
Some students also created beautiful displays of their dresses which were not being modeled on the day. Feroza Shah (student) was awarded a prize forMost Beautiful Display. Well done!
Sunkist staff and management are commended on the excellent role they played in making our function the resounding success it was.
To conclude, we had a few gifts to give away in our Lucky Draws. Some of the sponsored gifts & sponsors included:
