To my students who have done my sewing course or are continuing in the new year… To my readers that are subscribed to this mailing list but have not yet taken the leap to enrol… To my followers on social media… it has been a phenomenal year. I hope you all well over these long, warm summer holidays.
So many changes have taken place and so much has happened as our Academy sails into our 12th year with the Grace of the Almighty. The success of our students speak a thousand tales as so many of our past and present students are now entrepreneurs who have created a niche for themselves.
The Abaya Course which ran this holiday was such a pleasure to teach. The students had fun bringing their designs to life. Designing and stitching Abayas is a never-ending road and the beauty of the Abaya Course is that you can do it again, with different designs, if you need to. Pictures of some of the Abayas will be posted on our website and social media soon.
The Sewing Skills Course also ran smoothly with a new, revised syllabus and had the young ladies smiling at their own handiwork. This course is offered as a steppingstone to introduce young ladies to the long list of opportunities that await them simply by learning how to operate their sewing machine. Then, after having discovered their own potential, they usually enroll for the other courses we offer. They have learnt that sewing is not only about having an interest in creating clothes. You can do much so more than that! Many past students have followed their dreams by making specific items to sell online and at fares and markets.
On another note…
The school holidays have been shortened this year. This should be all the more reason to spend each day well-prepared to get the most of it.
Adults and children need stimulation and handcraft projects to keep them occupied on long trips or lonely weekends. Wherever you are, wherever you go, make the most of your time. Time management is the key to success and it eliminates depression, boredom and loneliness.
To give is a greater fulfillment than to receive. Give of your time and give a little something to someone every day. This joy is a feeling that will envelope your heart and protect you.
Not everyone is fortunate all of the time and no one grieves forever. The time needed to heal oneself is quicker if you share it with loved ones.
Spread kindness, share love and give of yourself. You will receive endless bounties from the Almighty in return.
Outreach and Empowerment…
Our outreach program worked well this year with a few students enrolling on our Module 1 course to empower themselves and uplift their lifestyles. Silent Sewing Academy will always help those that need assistance in making their first step. I wish them every success in the future.
Our Empowerment Program has brought joy and security to many students by uplifting them, not only monetarily, but also psychologically. The hours spent in classes with the students and the motivational conversations have many students calling me just to remember the beautiful learning experience. Our structured Syllabus is a good start to any career path you choose. So spread the word and help empower women by steering them in the right direction. I do hope our new students experience even better memories in the coming year.
Our newly-revised syllabus and our positive outlook for 2019 has us smiling as we turn into a new year with new ideas. Our annual show, with a difference, will be held in October in keeping with out tradition. We will keep you updated closer to the time.
So, to new beginnings and new journeys into the World of Sewing…
