| All about our 11th annual show! |
| Hello lovely ladies It has been a splendidly invigorating few weeks. The excitement and preparation of The Show had us all in a state of anxiety. It was a show of many firsts, but it was also the last if its kind. Onward and Upward we go, to New Beginnings in the coming year with the Grace of The Almighty. I do hope you are all in the best of health. I have challenged myself to eat healthily and drink more water. So let us all try to make a difference in our lives by caring a little more about ourselves. Beautiful thoughts come from a beautiful mind. So let us try to beautify ourselves as the beautiful summer days unfold with brighter skies and brighter ideas. Inwardly and outwardly, strive to beautify the world with your inspirational words and to add colour to the lives of others. So many ladies among us are not in peak health. Some physically and some emotionally. Words and actions are the best medicine for these wounded souls, so let us mind our P’s and Q’s and make a positive impact by using healing words. Saturday, 6 October 2018, marked a change in the long line of our Annual Designers Showcases. It was a phenomenal success! No bragging, though, because the show has never been about us. It has always been about our students! Beginners. Intermediates. Advanced and Post Advanced students, too. They all displayed their show pieces with honour. The Show began with a stream of models displaying the outfits as a beautiful sound track added to the excitement. The entries were many this year, as a never ending flow of superb breathtaking designs hit the floor gracefully and full of glamour. The beautiful black and gold decor, splashed with peach roses, added to the ambiance as our audience sat back and relaxed with the Lindt chocolate given at the entrance. Each guest also received a sandblasted glass mug with an embossed rose at the entrance and each ticket was added to the lucky draw box. Our non-participating students surprised us by wearing their own creations on the day. It was one of the highlights of the show for us as they all greeted us with enthusiasm, believing in us and more importantly believing in themselves. Now I can truly say “WE MADE IT HAPPEN”. We have had a lot of positive feedback and reviews about the show. As in many events of this caliber some hitches are understandable. Thankfully, we ironed out our challenges and were in high gear as our Graduating Students took to the floor in a seemingly never-ending line of couture garments, displaying their hard work with anxious pride. What a performance! WOW! It was like a dream, as one by one the Graduates were sashed and handed their certificates, along with a graduating gift from the Academy; while a good Samaritan took beautiful pictures to make the occasion memorable. Although it’s the end of the year, we still have a good few weeks to get into gear and empower ourselves. Module 2 began after the show and a weekday Module 1 will begin as soon as possible. Saturday, 27 October,has been earmarked for the Learn to Sew 16 lessons course. In mid-November we have a University Students Course and in December we have an Abaya Course. Bookings are still open for these courses. Sign up for any of the following courses: Professional Development, Crochet classes, Sewing Skills, Shopper Bag Masterclass… All you need to do is get into the groove of sewing! Find your Creativity.
