You may do short constructive courses or join the three module curriculum. You may decide on which days and hours you’d like to learn. As a designer for the last forty years, events, scenery and people still inspire me. More so now as I sit back after all these years and let the thoughts and ideas of yesteryear amalgamate with technology and matured ideas of today’s styles and designs.
My recent road trip was infused with these very thoughts as we drove across our beautiful country. The colour green played havoc with my brain! The lush countryside, rambling mountains and multi-green pastures lent my dreamy brain the inspiration it needed to motivate my instincts to design. The old adage, a change is as good as a rest, has proved its point. Rejuvenation can only be brought about if you allow it. Open your mind to new innovations and different ideas. Allow your self to pulled into the universe. Look for the beauty in every day living. See the good in everything. To be positive you have to think positively. Only positivity will bring out the best in you. Then you will be confident to stand beside those that need you.
Our Shopper Bag class was a phenomenal success. We have some new innovative designs that we will introduce soon. Watch this space!
Our Professional Development lessons has taken on a new twist. It was started, initially, for my students to upgrade themselves… but for a few years now, we have had many outside our fold empowering themselves with these individual hourly lessons. The professional development one-on-one class is a step above the rest because it is a short-cut to where you want to be. This popular lesson is fast-growing to make our students and others entrepreneurs in the Designing and Sewing fields create easy-to-sew, simple garments.
On that note, we introduce our
Silent Sewing Academy Services Directory.
In the past months, we have been inundated with requests from the public for services ranging from sewing of bridal gowns to doing basic alterations. Wefound a need to link these callers with our SSA students who have opened their businesses, from home industries to more formal brands. Doing this quickly became time consuming due of the success of our Instagram and Facebook profiles and the many callers we have received from these platforms (thanks to advertising through Durban Muslima! Thank you Shireen Mansoor). We have, thus, created a services directory to facilitate and allow our SSA ladies to advertise their services to the public.

The names and details of our students, past and present, will be listed. In this way it will be easier for us to relay information to the many enquiries wehave. So, if you would like to appear on our directory, please send all the details to us via WhatsApp or Email. The directory will be updated regularly.
Soon we will be visited by the sacred month of Ramadaan. In addition to spirituality and upliftment, coming of this month will also bring to a finish the Saturday afternoon classes. By mid-June, courses in all three Saturday slots (8am, 11am and 2pm) will begin. Enrolment is always open!
